I'm ready to buy a new skimmer for my tank, this seaclone is junk! I have been reading a lot of reviews about the aquac remora and its getting really good reviews. This seems like the best buy for the buck. Does anyone have any experience with these?
I like this one because its hang on and that's all I have room for. It says its for up to 75 gallons so its seems like it would be good for me since I'm at 46 gallons.
Thanks for any help.

I also had a seaclone which quit doing the job it needed to do. I bought an aqua remoraC hang-on the back with the skimmer attachment and the over-flow tube b/c of the ratings I found about it. It has been working in my 46 gallon for about 4 weeks. It moves a lot of water, makes lots of foam-white, wet. But it hasn't made the dark disgusting foam many said it would-yet. I ended up running the tubing back into the aquarium as was recommended (for the break-in period) b/c enough water escaped through it into the bucket I set up beside the aquarium that the water level in the aquarium kept getting too low and there wouldn't be enough water in the skimmer attachment so the powerhead would make all kinds of noise and sound like it was dying.

I bought the skimmer attachment b/c the recommendations on it said the attachment kept it from producing bubbles in the tank which was normal during the break-in period.

The instructions I received with the skimmer were minimal.

I called the customer service dept. several times, left my number, etc. but was never able to get hold of anyone.

Yesterday, I cleaned the skimmer cup and readjusted the skimmer attachment(it kept slipping down and lope-sided)...which is recommended about once a month. That was a major chore!!!! Maybe it will get easier the more I have to do it.

Overall, I'm more pleased with the performance...but it's new...you would expect it to work better than what I replaced. I'm not impressed with customer service!!!!

Hope this helps! I know when I was looking to replace my seaclone, I got so confused and exasperated that I finally settled on the remora although some of the things I read about it were not totally positive....like I have been! But I couldn't find a skimmer that had all positive things said about it!

Thanks for the feedback.
Everything I read about every skimmer is good and bad, none of them are unanimously positive.
I just want to get it right because I don't want to have to upgrade again. My choices are limited since I need a hang on.

I think I may narrowed my search down to two skimmers, the aquac and the eshopps. Does anyone else have any words of wisdom?

I have had a remora pro for a couple of years now and I really like mine. I bought mine used so I didn't have to go through the break in period, so I can't comment on that. At first you will have to tinker with it a little bit to get it adjusted right, but once you dial it in it works great. If you are getting too wet of a skim you just need to move your skimmer cup up a little bit until you get the kind of skimate you want. I have mine set up to skim really dry and my skimate is real dark green, almost black. For a hang on the back skimmer I would highly recommend it.

No, mine didn't come with one. And now I have mine in my sump so I wouldn't have a use for it if I did.
